Bellville Water Softener Repair Experts
Water softeners are a great addition to any home that has hard water. By removing excess minerals, like magnesium and calcium, from your home’s water supply, you can work to extend the lifespan of your piping, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. On average, a typical water softener system will last you between 10 and 15 years, assuming it receives proper upkeep and care. Over that lifespan, you may experience some issues with your system that may require professional repair service.
There are many signs that will indicate that your water softener system is malfunctioning, including:
- Limescale buildup
- Stiff laundry
- White spots on dishes
- Dry hair and skin
One of the most obvious issues that you may notice with your water softener system is that it’s leaking. There are various places that water may leak out of, including the resin tank, the brine tank, and any of the water supply lines going in or out of the unit. Call one of our plumbing professionals to come out and further assess the source of the leak so we can perform a repair or replacement and make your water soft and healthy again.
Another issue that you may run into is that your salt tank seems to have a mushy bottom. This happens when your water softener isn’t regenerating as it’s supposed to. This sludgy material will block the water in and out of the brine tank and make it ineffective. One of the most common reasons this occurs is because you’re not using the right type of salt in your system. If you believe you’re using the appropriate type of salt, then one of our professionals can further assess the issue to determine its root cause.
The resin beads inside your water softener system will eventually wear out over time. When these resin beads completely wear out, you’ll notice a foul odor due to excessive bacteria or sediment buildup. Depending on the age of your water softener system, you may simply decide to replace the resin beads inside it instead of replacing the entire system.
Another problem that you may run into is that the bypass valve for your water softener system isn’t working. This valve allows water to reroute from your main water supply line to all your plumbing fixtures without going through the water softener system. This can be particularly helpful if you’re having an issue with your water softener. However, if the bypass valve malfunctions, it can keep rerouting water instead of putting it through your water softener system like you want it to. You’ll need one of our plumbers to come out and repair the bypass valve in order to get your water softener system back to normal.
